Mr. Sam J. Williamson's Obituary
Sam J. Williamson 80, died at home in Pearland, Texas.
Sam was born in a log cabin in Maytoy, Oklahoma on December 7, 1931as the sixth child of Mary and Price Williamson. Sam attended schools in Banty and Rattan, Oklahoma. Later, he attended Paris Junior College on a basketball scholarship before completing course work at East Texas State University. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1955. In early1956, the Chadwick friends introduced him to Juanita Smith, who became his wife in March, 1956. From 1958 to 1966, he served on the police force in Paris, Texas and then in Odessa, Texas. In 1967, he moved to Prairie Village, Kansas where he excelled as an insurance property adjuster for 23 years. Various insurance companies recruited him due to his expertise, to assist them with claims following natural disasters all over the United States. In 1990, he moved back to Texas to retire and play golf at Country Place aka "God's Waiting Room." Both golf and basketball were his passion. His involvement with basketball followed him around the world. He not only played and coached the game but he also refereed. For 53 years, Sam was involved in Masonry. He was a 32-Degree Scottish Rite Mason and proudly supported the Shriners' hospitals for crippled and burned children. A special friend, Paula Thomas; two children, Sheila Pruett and husband Karl of Tulsa Oklahoma, Terry Williamson and wife Dee Dee of Crosby, Texas; one grandchild, Adriene Pruett and one great-grandchild, Thomas Allen Pruett survive him. His many friends and extended family members will miss him and cherish the times with him of laughter and of being recipients of his generous heart.
