And numerous nephews, nieces and cousins!
Sammy “wore many hats” in his lifetime……. Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy, Grandpa, GrandSal, Uncle, Godfather, and friend, to name a few. He was a retired Houston Firefighter E/O Pump Operator/Paramedic of 33 years. He attended the first Paramedic School offered in Houston. In January 1993, Salvatore graduated from the Liberty Bible Institute in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was also a Concealed Handgun Instructor. One of his passions was serving The Lord by preaching and leading praise and worship at the Star of Hope Mission in downtown Houston.
Salvatore was proud to be an Italian American. His ancestors were immigrants from Sicily, Italy.
Some of the things Salvatore loved:
First and foremost, his God, and it was apparent in everything he did. He was the real deal. He would give the shirt off his own back to help someone in need. Sammy was the true definition of what it means to be a “Christian”! Even in his last week of life, here on earth, he was asking the Hospice nurse if she “knew The Lord”. Would to God we should all be so bold in our faith! Sammy also loved celebrating the Passover each year. “Next year, in Jerusalem!”
Next, his family! His love for his wife, Blanche, of almost fifty-two years, was beautiful, proven and true; for his children, unmeasurable; and for all of his family, loyal and undeniable!
And finally, he loved his dog, Samson! He was extremely close with his dog. Samson passed away on October 11th, and three days later, his master (Sammy) followed.
A few of Salvatore’s favorite things:
His bay house on the water in San Leon, Texas
Sunday dinners with family, eating pasta and suga
Making Tamales
Cooking
Dining at Panchos Mexican Restaurant
His Grandson Timothy’s Barbequed Ribs
Chocolate Pie with REAL whipping cream
Pasta with the beans
His sister’s soup
Strawberry shortcake
Grilling steaks with his son, John
Peanut patties
Playing his guitar and singing praise and worship songs to The Lord (which he is probably doing at this current time, in the very presence of Jesus!) Hallelujah!
