Rudolph "Rudy" James Pesl's Obituary
Rudolph James "Rudy'' Pesl Sr.
On Wednesday, June 21, 2023, Rudolph James Pesl Sr., passed away at the age of 85 surrounded by his loving.
Rudolph, most commonly known as "Rudy", was born on January 21, 1938 in Cistern, Texas to Anton Karl and Lillie Pesl. Rudy and his large catholic family grew up in Weimar, Texas. After graduating from Weimar High School in 1956, Rudy went to Texas A&M University. He worked for Humble Oil and Refinery (Exxon) for the next few years until he decided to join the United States Navy.
Rudy's love for America and a die hard republican led him to the Navy where he served abroad on the U.S.S. Princeton LPH-5 in far east Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong and Okinawa. He completed a total of ten years and the Vietnam War both active duty and reserves.
Rudy married his life-long sweetheart, Sylvia Budge Pesl in 1962. The dedicated couple were married for 61 happy years. They went on to have three children, Michael James, Rudolph James Jr. "Jimmy" and Jennifer Seleste. The family resided in Pearland, Texas from 1963 until the present.
When Rudy wasn't working he could be found calling bingo at St. Helen's Catholic Church, attending mass, fishing or hunting with his brother Jodie Pesl, playing with his grandkids or running errands (which he liked to do!)
Rudy retired from Blue Bell Creameries in Alvin Texas after 22 ½ years. He loved his job and would often take his family to stock up on ice cream and would often quote Blue Bell "We eat all we can and sell the rest!" After a brief retirement and much boredom, Rudy decided to mix his love of children and driving and became a school bus driver for Pearland ISO and Alvin ISO. He drove the bus until he was 72 years old and finally decided to stay retired for good.
Rudy was predeceased by his son Michael James. He leaves behind to cherish and treasure his memories his loving wife Sylvia Pesl; his son, Jim Pesl and wife Brenda Pesl; his daughter, Jennifer Gray and husband Richard Gray; his four grandchildren, Ashley Pesl, Travis Hoot, Trey Hoot and Rachel Hoot and his great-granddaughter Ryleigh Pesl; he also leaves other relatives and a host of dear friends.
Rudy will be dearly missed by all those who shared wonderful memories with him.
