Mrs. Ruby Edwards' Obituary
On December 6th 2015 in that “Great getting up morning God called his Angel home “fare-the-well” fare-the-well!” Ruby Nell Edwards was a loving devoted Grandmother, Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend.
Ruby Nell House-Edwards, was born on May 24, 1944 to Willie Bell White and H.D. House, in Friendship, Tennessee. Ruby had 3 siblings, Herbert D. House Jr., Eddie House (preceded in death), Sheva Walters. Father H. D. House, Sr. has preceded in death. The family moved to Houston, Texas where Ruby attended school.
Ruby accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Ruby attended Evan E. Worthing High School she obtained her GED at Attucks Night School. Ruby gave birth to Stephanie Barrett in July 1958.
Ruby’s first union of matrimony was to Jacob Ashton. To this union two children were born, Arnold Ray Ashton (preceded in death) and Rachel Denise Ashton.
On June, 1968 Ruby was united in Holy Matrimony to John L. Edwards, Sr. To this union three children were born, Kevin, Demetrias and John, Jr. Edwards.
Ruby joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Houston Texas, under the leadership of Reverend Lawrence Edwards Sr., where she was baptized. Ruby later joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas where she was active in Bible Studies and Purity with Purpose Discipleship Ministry.
Ruby worked for Globe Department Store, Pilgrim’s Cleaners, Elite Cleaners, HISD, Texas Instruments, Vector Cable, Loomis Armor Co., Knudson & Associates Planning and Development Company, Jim Box & Consultants and Walmart. Ruby later moved to Dallas and worked for the Dallas County School District as a Bus Aide.
Ruby enjoyed going fishing, traveling, trail riding and was affiliated with the Outlaw Trail Rider Club.
She leaves in God’s care and to cherish his memories, her loving mother Willie Bell White, her three daughters, Stephanie D. Barrett, Rachel D. Ashton, Demetrias Y. Edwards (Anthony) and two sons, Kevin L. Edwards (LaShunda) and John L. Edwards, Jr. (Kim) and Stepdaughter, Arnell R. Evans (Bert). 11 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren and Great grandchildren, a loving dog “Honny” and a host of relatives and friends.
