Roy Holland Henson's Obituary
Littleroy “Roy” Holland Henson was the man who truly did not exist or did he? Littleroy was born on June 15, 1933, to Roy Houston and Vivian Elizabeth Henson in Gouldbusk, Texas. His birth was never recorded, and a birth certificate was not issued. According to the Bureau of Vital Statics, without a birth certificate, he did not exist, and he surely could not have served in the United States Army. He was drafted and served in the Army, receiving an honorable discharge at the end of the Korean War. He was proud of his service and of being a veteran. When he enlisted in the Army, he changed his name from Littleroy to Roy H. Henson. Fondly, he was known to his family as Littleroy.
He had two daughters from a previous marriage, Teresa Stevens and Leasa Bartley. He married Margaret Mullikin on February 19, 1966. and they had two daughters, Mary Farley, Rhonda Henson, and an adopted son, Bobby Donahoo. Littleroy and Margaret have 15 grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
After 70 years in the flooring trade, Littleroy retired in March 2010. He taught many others the flooring trade. He was an active member of Heights Baptist Church, a Mason of the Eddy, Texas Chapter, and loved fishing, camping, and playing dominos. Littleroy was proud of being the Head Cook of the Willis Group Barbecue team at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for more than twenty-six years.
Littleroy passed away at home on December 11, 2022, at the age of 89. He was the last surviving member of his family, preceded in death by his parents, siblings Sam Houston (Buster), Hiram Henry (Buddy), Horace Eugene (Gene), May Pearl (Aunt Sis), John Herbert (Scofield), and daughters Leasa Bartley and Rhonda Henson. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Henson, daughters Teresa and Mary, son Bobby, and numerous family members.
