Bill Castillo
I offer my sincere condolences to the Family of Mr. Rodolpho Suarez De La Cruz. I first met Rodolpho, or as many of us knew him, “Rudy” twenty-five years ago when I decided to try Mi Sombrero Restaurant. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and the beginning of a lasting friendship. The food was delicious, and the family ambience was even better. My wife and I introduced ourselves to Rudy and we immediately became like family. One time, I asked Rudy about the menu. He said, “We serve it all day long. If it’s not on the menu, I’ll put it together for you!” That is the kind of extraordinary service he delivered. Mr. Rudy was a man of faith. Above one of the entrances to the restaurant, was a picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe along with a crucifix. Rudy explained, “Every day we open the store [restaurant], I look at the picture and the cross and pray. I Thank God for giving me another day to serve Him and his people. I ask Him to keep us safe and then I go to work. At night, I thank Our Lady of Guadalupe for keeping us safe and, God willing, for another day to do it again tomorrow.”
Like my family, I’m sure there are many others with fond memories of delightful meals shared at Mi Sombrero…all prepared and served under Rudy’s watchful eye and welcoming smile. Thank you for it all Rudy! Your friendship is a Blessing from God! We will deeply miss your physical presence, but we know your spirit is always with us.
Rest in God’s Peace My Good Friend…you earned it.
Mr. Bill E. Castillo and Family
