Mr. Robert H. "Bob" Walter's Obituary
Robert H. “Bob” Walter, 83, of Pearland, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015, with his wife, Karen Lowery Walter, by his side.
He was born to Robert Bedall Walter and Daisy Hill Walter on January 9, 1932 in Houston, Texas. Bob and his younger brother Harvey grew up in Houston and later West Columbia. He joined the United States Army on December 13, 1952, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany for five years and rose to the rank of Specialist Fifth Class. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1958 and returned to Pasadena, Texas. He attended the Pasadena Police Academy in 1963 and worked for the Pasadena PD until 1966. He then worked for the South Houston PD for five years until becoming a Police Officer for the City of Pearland on December 27, 1971. He served the community of Pearland for twenty-seven years rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He retired from the Pearland Police Department on January 31,1998 after 40 years in Law Enforcement. Bob spent his retirement years traveling with his “Bride” and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Karen Lowery Walter, brother Harvey Walter; and his seven children: Rhonda Hicks, of Deer Park, TX; Robert Lee Walter, of Pearland, TX; Steven Lowery, of Pearland, TX; Jennifer Giese, of Pearland, TX; Kelley Hargrave, of Pensacola, FL; Russell Lowery, of Defuniak Springs, FL; Julia Herndon, of Crestview, FL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be present for visitation from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, March 30, 2015, at SouthPark Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. Helen Catholic Church, with Fr. Jim Courville, Celebrant. Graveside services immediately following at SouthPark Cemetery.
