Mr. Robert Smith's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Smith, 84, an entrepreneur, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of May 22, 2018, in Pearland, Texas. Robert was born on January 2, 1934, in Crandall, Clarke County, Mississippi. At the age of 16, he moved to Texas to work in the oilfields and never moved back; he loved Texas. He loved to spend his time with his wife and family. He had highest value for his relationship with Jesus Christ; he cherished his church family and moments he shared at Citymark Church. He loved to travel when he could, play with “Ernie” his dog, and watch wildlife. He dedicated his entire life to work to provide for his family and friends until his final day.
Robert raised two families as he was first married to Maxine (Duke) Rasberry for 32 years. For the remainder of his life, he was the beloved husband for 32 years of Carolyn Iva (Tisdale) Smith of Pearland, Texas. Father of Robert R. Smith, Deborah Helen (Smith) Hensley – deceased, and her husband, Danny, and Cheryl Ann (Smith) Gordon, and her husband Mike. Step-father to Jason Michael Gabbard, and his wife Denise, and Jennifer Marcelle (Gabbard) McBroom, and her companion David Landry. Preceded in death by father, Wilburn Louis Smith, mother, Helen Marie (Downey) Smith, sister, Eloise (Smith) Irby, and her husband, James, brother, James Milton Smith, brother, L.C. Smith, and his wife, Doris “Dot”, and in-laws, John L. Riley, and Joseph Bowen. Surviving siblings are, sister, Norma Lee (Smith) Riley, sister, Barbara LaVena “Polly” (Smith) Bowen, brother, Wilburn John “WJ” Smith, and his wife, Rita, sister, Annette (Smith) White, and her husband, John, and sister-in-law, Helen Smith. Surviving grandchildren are, Lesa Renee (Hensley) Ryals, and her husband, Rodney, Brian Lee Hensley, and his wife, Marcelina, Michelle Lee (Gordon) Smith, and her husband, Lamar, Mitzy Gail (Gordon) Arnold, and her husband, Brian, Melaine Diana (Gordon) Cliburn, and her husband, Dennis, and Mikayla Alexandria Gordon. Surviving step-grandchildren, Jessica Lauren (Womack) Lowe, and her husband, Nick, and Stephen Michael McBroom. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
His viewing is Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 5pm-8pm and his funeral is on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10am, gravesite service to follow at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 1310 N. Main Street, Pearland, Texas 77581.
