Mr. Robert Gary Reider's Obituary
Robert Gary Reider, 62, left the earth for his eternal rest with the Lord on December 12th, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 25th, 1953 in Warren, Ohio, Gary, also known as Robert, spent his youth in neighboring Newton Falls, and then on to Orlando, Florida.
After his senior year in high-school in the Houston area, he graduated in 1971, and with guitar in hand, made the Lone Star State his life-long home. A proud Texan through and through, Robert utilized all the state had to offer in living his life to the fullest. Be it surfing on the Gulf Coast, softball tournaments in Pearland, drag racing in Baytown or Camping at the Lake in Conroe, his passion for adventure and competition always shined through. As an avid sportsman, he would lead his crew of friends and fellow racers in several competitions all over the country as a NHRA member, always sharing his love of drag racing with his son, grandsons and nephew. His good nature, sense of humor, and fairness would serve him well as a businessman and an entrepreneur in the oil and gas industry. He also never met a stranger that wouldn’t usually end up a friend or colleague. In 2000, Robert married the love of his life, Gail Johnson. Together they would start the foundation for what would become the most fulfilling and joyful part of his life- filled with family friends and love. Robert Gary Reider will certainly be remembered for many things, but most of all for his kindness and generosity to everyone in his life, especially by those who knew him well.
