Robert LeRoy “Lee” Johnson Jr
December 13, 1950 - August 18, 2024
Robert LeRoy “Lee” Johnson Jr, age 73 is at peace with the
Lord. Lee was born on December 13, 1950 in St. Paul, MN. His
family’s military service brought him to Houston as a young
child. He graduated from Jesse H. Jones HS in 1969 where he
met and married his high school sweetheart, Gail, in 1973. They
lived in Pearland, TX and had two daughters; Jill and Ann. They
remained married until Gail’s death in 2005. Lee found love
again and married Wendi in 2019. They lived in Kemah, TX.
Lee was talented at woodwork, fixing things, and cooking. He
enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR, cruises, offering advice, and
helping others. Lee joined the United States Army and trained to
be a paratrooper. In 1970 he was reassigned to the Air Force
Reserves as a firefighter when he began a career with the
Houston Fire Department at Station 18 and later Station 72 and
part of the high rise and water rescue team. Lee remained in the
TX Air National Guard until his retirement in 1999 and retired
from HFD with 35 years of service. Throughout his career, he
was known as a man of integrity.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joan Erickson Johnson
and Robert Johnson Sr., his first wife Brenda Gail Franks
Johnson, siblings Sandra Smith and Kenneth Johnson. He
passed away on August 18, 2024. He generously chose to be a
tissue and organ donor. His loving memory will live on with wife
Wendi Johnson, sister Barbara Johnson Dustin of Livingston,
daughter Jill (Steven) Williams, grandson Lucien Williams of
Austin; daughter Ann (Glynn) Castro, granddaughters Emma
and Gianna Castro of Cedar Park; stepdaughter Jessica Pierce,
step-granddaughter Cameron Pierce; stepson Colby Long, as
well as nieces, nephews and life long friends.
