Mr. Robert Allen Burch's Obituary
Robert Allen Burch was born 7/9/1940 in St. Louis, MO. and died 6/9/2013 in San Antonio, TX. Bob lived in Indiana, Florida, and then moved to Houston at the age of 10. He served as an altar boy at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Houston. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School and earned his BA from the University of Houston. Linton, Indiana is the hometown of the Burch family and a family reunion is held every year on the 4th of July. Bob enjoyed returning to his second home for these reunions. Bob served in the U. S. Army in France. He was with the first group of soldiers sent to the Berlin Wall. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7983 in San Antonio. He married LaVerne Abramcik on 5/22/1965 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Houston. Bob and LaVerne lived in California for about 10 years where their son, Jason, and daughter, Julie, were born. Thrilled to be parents, they returned to Texas in 1981, so their children could know their family. Seven years later they moved to San Antonio, TX where Bob worked as an electrician with the Six Flags Association. He enjoyed fishing and going to the casinos in Laughlin, NV. But he really loved spoiling his grandchildren. After retirement, Bob and LaVerne enjoyed traveling to see family and friends across the country. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne of San Antonio; son, Jason of San Antonio; and daughter, Julie Holt and husband, Justin of Ft. Belvoir, VA. His grandchildren: Elisabeth, Matthew, Ethan, and Allison Burch; Ashley Pool, and Ryan, Noah and Sean Holt. Also surviving him are his brother, Gary and wife, Joanna of Waverly, TX; his sister, Carol Howard of San Antonio; Aunt Helen Robinson of Plainfield, IN and Aunt Jean Burch of Linton, IN. Also best friend, Charles Boyle and wife, Dorothy and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his 8 grandchildren. Deacon Rob Stevens of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Houston will officiate at the Memorial Service. Special thanks to Father Pat Cronin of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in San Antonio for his support and spiritual guidance to both Bob and LaVerne during this time.
