Mrs. Rita M. Martin's Obituary
Rita Marie Martin, 85, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012. Rita was born on January 13, 1926 in Abbeville, LA. She grew up in Nederland, TX and moved to Houston after she married her loving husband, Jack, to raise her family. She spent many years serving those in need through the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. The world has lost a beautiful woman today, who taught us so much about life and how to give unselfishly to others. We will always be grateful to her for the life lessons and her uncompromising love. She is in a better place now and is no longer suffering. We love and will miss you very much. R.I.P Sister, Mom, Nanny, Memaw, Meme. She is preceded in death by her parents, Victoria & Edgar Mayer of Nederland, TX; her husband of 40 years, Jack Ray Martin; her eldest son, John Martin of Willis, and her great granddaughter, Kaylee Gooley. She is survived by her children, Linda Browne of Pearland & husband Tom, Donald Martin of Conroe, Tony Martin of Spring, and Karen Ann Martin of Cypress; her sister, Frances Brevell of Manvel; her grandchildren, Michelle, Keith, & Mark Browne; Susan & Andrew Martin, & Leontine Gooley; her great-grandchildren, Amber, Ryan & Jeremy Browne, and Kennedy Gooley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will be present for visitation on Wednesday, January 4th, 6-7:30 with the Vigil at 7:30 p.m. & Funeral Services on January 5th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 9009 Sienna Ranch Rd., Missouri City, TX 77459. Interment will be at SouthPark Cemetery.
