Rita Vasquez Elizondo, 77, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Pearland, Texas. Her life was a testament to faith, compassion, and dedication to others. Born on November 1, 1947, in Pendleton, Texas, Rita grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She carried the values instilled in her by her parents and community throughout her life. Rita’s strong Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her identity; she was a devoted member of St. Helen's Catholic Church and could be found attending Mass every weekend, rain or shine. Rita dedicated over 40 years of her life to nursing—a profession that perfectly matched her compassionate spirit. She loved every moment of her career, finding deep fulfillment in caring for others with kindness and grace. Her contagious smile and warm demeanor left lasting impressions on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family was central to Rita’s life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Celestino Elizondo III (Tino); her son Leonard Elizondo and daughter-in-law Connie Elizondo; and her daughter Jennifer Elizondo Garcia. Rita’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Jesse Elizondo, Tony Elizondo, Melissa Elizondo, Jaelynn Garcia, and Marley Garcia; and her great-grandson, Noah Elizondo. She is also lovingly remembered by her mother Julia Vasquez; siblings Antonio Vasquez, Simon Vasquez, Vicenta Herrera, Raquel Nunez, Rebecca Trevino, Esperanza Allen, and Christina De los Santos. Rita now joins in eternal rest with her father Elijio Vasquez and grandmother Sofia Thompson Aguilar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas. Details regarding the service will be shared with family and friends. Rita’s unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and radiant smile will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
