Mrs. Rita Theresa Del Bello's Obituary
Rita Theresa Dalmolin Del Bello passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 94 on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 in Manvel, Texas. Rita was born January 7th, 1926 in Manvel where she was a lifelong resident. She is preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Madalena Dalmolin, her sister, Edith, and her four brothers, Louis, Jimmie, Reno and Joe Dalmolin. Her husband of 60 years, Jimmie Joe Del Bello Sr., passed away 15 years ago on February 11th, 2005. The family felt Dad was calling Mom home – that she was tired and he was waiting for her.
Rita was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Jimmie Joe Del Bello Jr. and his wife Janice, Steve Michael and his wife Pamela, John Anthony “Tony” and his wife Wendy; eight grandchildren, Chris and Shawn Del Bello, Charadi Bryant, Chad, Ashley and Seth Del Bello, Zachary and Amy Del Bello; fifteen great-grandchildren, Miles Del Bello, Chelsea Del Bello, Devin Moody, John Robert Crabb, Christopher Del Bello, Madison Del Bello, Brianna Bryant, Tanner Bryant, Reece Del Bello, Kaden Del Bello, Landon Del Bello, Mason Del Bello, Brystol Del Bello, Kaylee Del Bello and Ally Del Bello; and two great-great grandchildren, Macy Del Bello and Jaxon Kopcak.
Rita graduated from Alvin High School in 1943 and married her husband on April 21st, 1946 after Jimmie returned from serving in the Army during World War II. For more than 50 years, Rita was a volunteer dispatcher for the Manvel Volunteer Fire Department, where she supported her husband and sons and the citizens of Manvel. She had a red fire phone in her home, waking up at all hours, day and night to dispatch calls for the Fire and EMS departments. Her husband along with her brother-in-law, her brothers and cousins were instrumental in starting the Manvel Volunteer Fire Department. Rita was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her many friends of the “Over the Hill Gang” at Grace United Methodist Church and “Game Days” at Sacred Heart where her favorite game was pinochle. She also enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her “Over 55 Gang” and the “Red Hat Ladies Club”. Rita was a caring and devoted member of her community and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends of the Del Bello family are invited to the visitation at South Park Funeral Home located at 1310 North Main, Pearland, Texas on Thursday evening February 20th from 5 to 8 PM. The funeral service will follow on Friday, February 21st at 10 AM in the chapel at South Park Funeral Home. Rita will be laid to rest beside her husband immediately following in South Park Cemetery.
