Richard A. Romero, Sr., born February 7, 1934 in Galveston, Texas passed away on December 26, 2010. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Romero proudly served his country, and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustine M. Romero, Sr. and Eugenia A. Romero; sister, Otilia (Tila) Romero; niece, Anna Marie Lucio; cousin, Celia C. Urbina..
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Florence Romero; children, Amelia Ramirez, Cecilia Hernandez and husband Juan, Bertha Hernandez and husband Luis, Richard Romero, Jr. and wife Belinda and Gilbert Romero and wife Linda; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dario Romero, Sr., Augustine Romero, Jr. and Armoando (Sonny) Romero; sisters, Olivia R. Cuello, Maria R. Barrett, Rosie R. Rivas, Hortense R. Faulkner and Julia R. Messer; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home with burial to follow at SouthPark Cemetery. A gathering of friends a family will take place Thursday December 30, 2010 from 4-8 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. that evening in the Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home.
