Mr. Richard Arlan Powell's Obituary
Richard Arlan Powell, 71, of Wharton, died Thursday, December 26, 2013. He was born to the late Pete and Willie Mae Powell, May 14, 1942, in Houston, TX. Richard graduated from South Houston High School in 1960 and received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Southwest Texas University in 1964. He served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966 stationed in Hawaii. Richard worked as an Office Manager at HL&P until he retired in 1992. He served as President of the Wharton Chapter of Rotary International in 1985 and 1986. In recent years, Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He especially loved babysitting his grandsons and watching them play sports, ride horses, and any school performances. Richard is survived by his son, Clint Powell, Clint's wife Holly, and two grandsons, Ty and Rhett; his brother Charles Powell of Houston, Charles' wife Phyllis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Dowell. He is much loved and will be greatly missed.
