Richard Carl Metcalf's Obituary
Richard Carl Metcalf was born in Dallas, Texas on November 11, 1952 and passed away on July 13, 2025. Richard spent his early childhood in Dallas and Waco, Texas with his family. In 1963 the family moved to Houston where he lived until graduating high school in 1971. Upon graduating high school Richard received a Bachelor's Degree from Stanford, Masters Degree from the University of Washington and a Doctorate from Manchester University in England. He was a National Honor Society member and Who’s Who in America. Richard was a geologist for Exxon in his early career. Later he was a scientist for Lockheed in Las Vegas. Eventually he became a professor of geology at San Jacinto College in the latter part of his career. Richard traveled the world during his lifetime and enjoyed skiing and mountain climbing and hiking as his hobbies. Richard is preceded in death by his oldest brother Robert, his mother, Marylou and his father William. He is survived by his brother Russell and his wife Leslie, his sister in law, Peggy and her children, Bryan Metcalf and Shelley Metcalf Wahl.
