Dr. Richard Mark Conway's Obituary
Dr. Richard Mark Conway (Dick), 71, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away January 28, 2010. Richard Mark Conway was born on July 27, 1938 in Muscatine, IA, to Walter and Dorothy Conway. He graduated from St. Mary's High School, and then earned his degree from the University of Iowa where he also completed medical school. He married Jean Elizabeth Hodges in 1961. They moved to St Louis, MO where Richard began his internship with the U. S. Air Force. In 1968, upon completion of his duty as flight surgeon in Alexandria, LA, Richard and his family established their home in Friendswood, TX. He joined the family practice of Dr. Joseph Symon, and later his wife, Dr. Diana Alves, where he practiced medicine for over 41 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter I. and Dorothy B. Conway, Mr. Jerome Conway, and Mr. Thomas Conway. He is survived by his wife, Jean Conway, and their three married daughters: Moira and Brian McCue, Lisa and Gary Crespo, and Catherine and Lt. Colonel Peter Demers; nine grandchildren, Ben, his wife Amber, and Conrad McCue, Alex, Ricky, Joey, and Emily Crespo, Courtney, Erin, and AJ Demers; and two great grandchildren, Sienna and Rylee McCue; his sister, Kathleen and Ted Haller, brother, Mike Conway, his sister-in-law, Rochelle Conway, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood. Visitation will be Monday, February 1st, at 6:00 PM followed with vigil and remembrances at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 2nd. Mass will be followed by a lunch for all in attendance. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation in memory of Richard Conway, 302 Laurel Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, or the American Heart Association, PO Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284. In the words of a pilot and friend, "Doc got his wings!"
