Revonda Jean "Jeanie" Monahan, a truly vibrant soul known for her infectious laughter, boundless love, and unwavering willingness to help everyone she could, passed away on June 9, 2025, in Pasadena, Texas. Born on October 2, 1956, in Chareleston, West Virginia, Jeanie embraced every moment with a charismatic, humorous, and genuinely caring spirit that brightened the lives of all who knew her.
Jeanie had an unparalleled gift for connecting with people. She truly thrived on spending time with family and friends and absolutely loved meeting new people, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. Her passions also included traveling, bringing home stories and memories from her adventures. With her love for music and natural exuberance, she was always the life of the party, radiating joy and fun. She was famously proud of her West Virginia roots, often proclaiming her origins with an enthusiasm that was both endearing and unforgettable.
Above all, Jeanie's heart belonged to her family. She loved her son, Ethan, with every fiber of her being, joyfully taking him everywhere as a child and speaking of him constantly. She was an awesome mother, a truly beautiful friend, and an amazing sister. Her greatest treasures were her grandsons, Lawson and Levi. Though she never had the chance to meet baby Levi in person, she cherished seeing pictures of him, eagerly anticipating his arrival even from her hospital bed. Jeanie also shared a remarkable and enduring bond with her ex-husband, Larry Monahan. She dedicated a significant amount of her time and energy to caring for Larry in the years leading up to his death, a testament to her deep love and unwavering commitment. Jeanie's laughter and remarkable sense of humor were a constant source of happiness for everyone around her.
Right out of high school, Jeanie displayed her adventurous spirit by driving heavy rock-moving trucks in the rugged mountains of West Virginia for a short time. She then embarked on a long and dedicated career as a revenue officer for the IRS. After her retirement, she remained actively engaged, volunteering on numerous committees, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and working for the Census Bureau. Her true legacy, however, lies in the warmth, love, and light she brought into the world, and her constant desire to be helpful to anyone in https://need.Jeanie is survived by her loving son, Lawrence Ethan Monahan, and his wife, Ashley Monahan; her adored grandsons, Lawson and Levi Monahan; her devoted sisters, Carolyn Williams and her husband Lee, and Patty Bowling and her husband Terry; and her half-brother, Jamie Jordan, and his wife Elizabeth. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who were touched by her vibrant spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward James Jordan and Delcie Helen Jordan, her half-brothers, John and Sonny Wyckoff, and her cherished ex-husband, Larry Monahan. A visitation to celebrate Jeanie's life will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, from 5 PM to 8 PM at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581. Funeral services will take place at the same location on Thursday, June 19th, at 11 AM, followed by a graveside service at 12 PM.
