Preetha Thomas' Obituary
Preetha Thomas Obituary
Preetha Thomas was born on February 20, 1975, to the God-fearing household of P.M. Easow and Saramma Easow (Thazhapallil Kizhakethil House) in Kolkata, India. Due to her father’s career as a material manager for a steel plant company, her family moved throughout India, including Bangalore and Visakhapatnam, before settling in Kulanada, Kerala. Growing up, she developed a deep love for the Lord, accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior. Sheand her family were baptized on April 14, 1991, a day she later noted in her journal as "the day heaven and I rejoiced greatly.”
On November 19, 1997, Preetha married George Thomas (Biju Thachanalil), son of the late T.M. Thomas and Mariamma Thomas. Over the next 28 years, they built a life founded on love, pursuing Christ together through every season. God blessed their marriage with two children, Sneha and Steve. Being a wife and mother was one of the greatest joys of her life. Pursuing her passion for healthcare, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in April 2002 from Matha College of Nursing in Manamadurai, India. On July 11, 2002, she moved to the United States to join her husband, and they settled in Stafford, Texas. She began her career at Houston Methodist Hospital in the orthopedic unit, where she faithfully
served for 22 years. She became a source of light and peace to numerous patients in their most vulnerable moments. Committed to professional excellence, she became the first certified orthopedic nurse in her unit and served as a trusted expert to her colleagues.
To those who knew her, Preetha was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt who brightened every room she entered with her infectious smile and radiant personality. Above all else, she delighted in the Lord and the community of believers, finding her truest joy in Scripture and prayer. As a fervent prayer warrior, she wholly trusted her Savior and dedicated every aspect of her life to Him. Her family was blessed to hear her continuously praying throughout the day and night, and can testify that her prayers have been the ultimate pillar of their family.
Even over the past year, as physical ailments pushed her to her limits, her faith never wavered in the midst of the toughest storms. She continually brought her supplications to Jesus, finding steadfast hope in her loving Savior. In her final days, despite her weakness, she praised the Lord until her very last breath. She lived with no guilt in life and no fear in death, a testament to
the power of the Gospel alive within her. On May 27, 2026, at 5:45 PM, she peacefully went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family
and loved ones. While there is sorrow in her departure from this earth, we hold fast to the hope that the same power of Christ that sustained her throughout her life will resurrect her on that glorious day, when we will see her again.
Preetha is survived by her husband, George Thomas; her children, Steve Thomas and Sneha Thomas; her son-in-law, Sam Shaji; and her parents, P.M. Easow and Saramma Easow. She is also survived by her siblings: her sister Reena Thomas and brother-in-law Biju Thomas, and her brother Pramod Thomas and sister-in-law Mini Pramod.
