Ms. Phyllis Marie Kimmey's Obituary
Phyllis Marie Kimmey, 87, a 21 year resident of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 3, 2013 in Dickinson, Texas. She was born on July 10, 1925 to Earl and Geraldine (Cosgrove) Ashley in Chicago, Illinois.
As a young girl and even in to adulthood, Phyllis loved to dance and attend any type of musicals she could. She graduated from Lufkin High School in 1945 and attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Phyllis was not only a housewife but worked many jobs throughout her life up until 1992 when she retired. There was also a period of time she did not work where she took care of her elderly aunts inside of her home. Phyllis was a member of St. Bernadette Church in Clear Lake City, Texas, where she was very active with Helping Hands for many years. But most of all she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Geraldine; her husband, Ray; her son, Kane; and her brothers, John and Tom Ashley. She is survived by her daughter, Karen and husband, Glen and granddaughters, Brittany and Brooke of Friendswood, Texas. A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 5PM to 9 PM, Monday, July 8, 2013 at The Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, TX. Reciting of the Rosary will begin at 7PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 10AM at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, with Father James Kuczynski officiating. Burial will follow at SouthPark Funeral Home and Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
