Obituary for Philip John Brueggeman
Philip John Brueggeman was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas on February 16, 1964. He attended school at St. Augustine Catholic and Patterson Elementary Schools, Deady Junior High and graduated from Milby High School in 1983.
As a youth he played catcher at OFA Little League. He competed in motor cross dirt bike races as well as go-cart races as a teen. In 1993, he purchased his own home in Pearland. Phil owned a Harley Davidson motorcycle that he loved riding. He was a devoted fan of the Houston Astros and the Texans. He had a long career working for Cable and Wireless as a telecommunications technician. This job allowed Phil to travel to many parts of the US. Also, he was a member in good standing of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
In early 2021, Philip moved into his mother JoAn’s house to take took care of her full time due to her advancing dementia. Tragically, Philip passed away very suddenly on January 23, 2024, only 4 days after JoAn was admitted to the hospital. She was eventually admitted to Houston Hospice and transitioned from this life to the next on February 7, 2024. His remains will be cremated. A joint Roman Catholic Mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 5438 Laurel Creek Way, Houston, TX 77017 will be held for JoAn and Philip on Friday, February 23, 2024. A visitation will begin at 9:30 am and a Mass will follow at 11:00.
