Peter Vasquez Vargas' Obituary
Peter Vasquez Vargas, a cherished member of the Lubbock community, was born on June 21, 1951, and passed away on August 8, 2024. He was a devoted husband to Pauline Galvan Vargas for 45 years, a loving father to Peter Vargas, Jr., Leslie Vargas Garza, and Irma Linda Vargas; a proud grandfather to six grandchildren; and a doting great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: three sisters and one brother.
Peter’s life was filled with joy and laughter, much like the western movies he adored. His love for travel took him to many places, creating memories that he shared with his family. A die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he brought the same passion and enthusiasm to his favorite team as he did to his family.
As a pastor, Peter touched many lives with his compassionate sermons and wise counsel. His faith was a beacon of hope for those around him, guiding them through life’s challenges with grace and strength.
Peter’s legacy will live on through the stories he told, the music he loved, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His soul now rests in eternal peace, leaving behind a family enriched by his presence and a community better for having known him.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Peter’s life at the funeral service on Wednesday, August 14, at South Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM. The committal service will take place at South Park Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
