Mr. Peter S. Baxter Jr.'s Obituary
He was born on June 9, 1920 in Coleman, Texas to Peter S. Baxter I and Lela Spradling Baxter. He grew up on a farm just outside of Coleman, Texas with his Mother, Father, two sisters (Eva and Iva) and four brothers (Jim, Woodrow, Frank, and Raymond). He was the last surviving member of his family.
He served in the Army Air Force, from 1941 to 1945, as a Flight Navigator and Specialist for the engine turbo-chargers on the B-17 Bomber and in Mission Intelligence. During the height of World War 2, he was stationed in England with 8th Air Force Group. After the war, he returned home to Coleman and married Mary S. Carville on December 16, 1946. In 1950, they moved to Houston and raised their family.
He was a devoted Bible student throughout his life and like his wife, their Christian faith and family came first. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Baxter, his two daughters (Diane and Mary), his four sons (Pete, Paul, Fred, and John), 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grand children.
