Pauline (Polly) Preston Horn's Obituary
Pauline (Polly) Preston Horn died peacefully in Pearland, Texas on September 11, 2023.
Polly was born on September 12, 1928 in Amity, Arkansas. She was adopted by her mother and
father Grace and Herbert Preston of Abilene, Texas, where she would later meet and marry the
love of her life Hugh David Horn, Jr. Together they raised four children, living in Abilene, El
Paso, Las Cruces, NM, Houston, and Pearland, celebrating over 53 years of life and love
together. Polly did not know much about her birth family for much of her life, but was
reconnected with her 8 siblings in the last 20 years. She truly believed in the power of family,
saying “The reward of old age is grandchildren, and grandchildren’s children.” The loved ones
listed here are a who’s who of her family, whether related by adoption, birth, or marriage.
Polly was proceeded in death by her parents, Herbert and Grace Preston, her beloved husband
Hugh Horn, Jr., her twin sons, Rob (Vickie) and Bob (Sandy) Horn, and her brothers Joe
(Nettie)and Dennis (Cindy) Autry. She is survived by her son David Horn (Connie) of Killeen,
Texas, and her daughter Cherie Triplett (Ted) of Manvel, Texas; seven grandchildren, Sarah
Wheat (Robert), Joe Horn (Tracy), Christi Alley (Chris), Buddy Triplett (Sarah), Jayme Horn,
Bobby Lee Horn, Charlie Triplett (Margaret); seventeen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great
grandchildren. She is also survived by her six siblings, Alline Craig (John), Thomas Autry,
Frances Stone (Joe), Lola Mattingly, Clara Carsten (Don), Jannis Childress as well as a host of
nieces and nephews.
Poly’s memorial service will be at South Park Funeral Home on September 29th, 2023 from 3-4
pm. There will be a visitation with the family from 2-3 pm at the funeral home, If you cannot make it to the service, there will be a live stream which can be
