Patricia Kenner Rockett's Obituary
“A born Texan has instilled in his system a mindset of no retreat and no surrender.”
Patricia Kenner-Rockett was born deep in the Panhandle of Texas in the fifties as a seventh generation Texan. The stars at night were truly big and bright because they had a lot of room to shine in a beautiful but somewhat desolate environment. One could not really live their formative years in this environment and not, by osmosis, inherit some of the traits instilled in her by ancestry. Trish had a fierce sense of pride, unwavering loyalty, rugged sense of “individualism”, a toughness that refused to surrender when she wanted something, and a fierce determination. She knew when things were a little tough, she needed to suck it up, put on her boots and keep on stomping. And she had a sparkle in those blue eyes that let you know right away that she could get up to some mischief. But also, there was a sense of loneliness that came with living in the Panhandle which made great lyrics for many a county western song.
In 1970, the family moved to Houston for a “better life.” In the following years, you did witness all the inherited traits still there but another side of her that was gentler and kinder began to emerge. To all friends and family who were privileged to be a part of her circle, the intense loyalty remained, but a generosity of time and resources developed. She was always willing to give in abundance to her family and friends. Trish could always be called on for whatever you needed. She was funny and fun loving. She was very sentimental and kept every card sent to her. She helped develop the word “Texan Hospitality.” And she loved deeply.
She will be remembered and missed by so many whom she loved and who loved her.
