Mrs. Patricia Ann Bradley's Obituary
Patricia Ann Bradley, age 93, graduated from this life on November 9, 2017 in Pearland, Texas, from dementia. She was born to Ira F. and Ethel Jane (Mulnix) Deal on December 5, 1923 in Cañon City, Colorado.
Pat moved with her family to San Francisco before she was six years of age and then to Redwood City, California in her early teen years. She graduated from Sequoia High School on June 20, 1941, and began her professional career in the payroll department of the Standard Oil Company in San Francisco, to which she commuted daily by train. She joined the Redwood City Assembly of God Church, where she fell in love with Neville John Bradley. They were married there on February 21, 1958. Her earnest prayers for a child were answered when she and Jack adopted Richard in 1961. Even with her busy work schedule, she was a devoted and loving mother. She was also honored to have a foster son, Buddy Price, for several years during the 1970’s.
Throughout her life Pat and her husband owned and operated a number of small businesses in partnership with her brother-in-law and his wife, which included the Hawthorne Gardens Apartments in Palo Alto, an insurance agency, a self-service laundromat, and the Shore-Vu Dry Cleaners on Cary Street in San Mateo. In 1963 they purchased their home in the Laurelwood neighborhood in Santa Clara, California, and in 1971 Pat and her husband began attending Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, and, upon its launch, moved to the new campus in Cupertino. Church was always a large part of her life, and she was involved in many home fellowships and ladies’ ministries.
Pat always maintained a close relationship with her siblings. She made frequent trips to visit her sister and family in Santa Cruz County and traveled north to Oregon nearly every summer to spend time with her brother and his family. She also enjoyed several trips with her husband to visit his family in England. Later in life she volunteered with a Christian outreach to the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall and was an active volunteer for the San Francisco Symphony. She also enjoyed crafts and had an impressive collection of doll houses.
Regrettably, Pat suffered a trip and fall in 2004 that resulted in a major closed head injury. After that, her health began to decline. In 2009, she moved to Texas to live near her son. She joined Second Baptist Church of Houston and attended services at the South campus as often as her health permitted.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard Neville and Carla Elena (Haynes) Bradley and her grandchildren Neville John Bradley II and Katherine Anne Bradley of Pearland, Texas, nephews Matthew Hickey Deal of Encinitas, California, Mark Daniel Deal of Gresham, Oregon, Jeffrey Richard Deal of Vancouver, Washington, nieces Patricia Joy Cresci of Eugene, Oregon, Christine Lynn Anderson of Bellingham, Washington, Elizabeth Susan Clapp of Ojai, California, Kathleen Sherry Johnson of Gresham, Oregon, Maita Lee Prout of Pasadena, California, Dawn Audre Loraas of Vashon Island, Washington, and Kimberly Ann Ray of Aurora, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack (d. 11/21/1985), her brothers Glenn Mulnix Deal (12/25/1978), James Richard Deal (1/2/2010), sister Dorothea Lois Ray (1/13/1983), nephew Kenneth Michael Ray (8/21/2009), niece Denise Jean Roberson (1/1/2015), and cousins Paul R. “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
