Patricia Sue Adkins' Obituary
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Patricia Sue Clifton Adkins, age 76, of Alvin, TX, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 10, 2023, with her family (husband, three children and eight grandchildren) at her side. Sue was a proud and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for more than 51 years.
Sue was born on September 6, 1947, in Rusk, TX; the third of six children and oldest daughter of Melvin V. Clifton & Mildred “Katheryn” Reed Clifton. She grew up in Missouri City, TX and graduated from Dulles High School in 1966. Sue married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Jesse Adkins Jr., on June 4, 1966, immediately following her high school graduation. At the time of Sue’s passing, she and Jesse had just celebrated 57 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children: Aura, James and Laura.
Over the years, Sue worked doing a variety of clerical office jobs as well as had many, many church callings helping church members with things such as employment or family history/genealogy assistance. No matter what Sue did, she always showed graciousness, kindness and patience to customers, co-workers and church members alike and gave generously of her time and talents. Sue loved to sew, crochet and cook. Nothing gave her more pleasure than making special treats for people to enjoy.
She is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Clifton; mother, Kathryn Clifton; brothers, James Clifton & Charles Clifton; and sisters, Melvalea Finn & Mary “Kathy” Fritz.
Sue leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, Jesse Adkins Jr.; daughters, Aura Morrey and Laura Adkins-Verde (Troy); son, James Adkins (Tanya); brother, Donald Clifton (Linda); and her adored grandchildren, Chelsey, Lance, Elysia, Justus, Savannah, Jase, Matthew, and Bronson; six great grand-children and extended family and friends.
