Paul was one on the greatest musicians in Houston history. His "requinto" solos were on par with the great Mexican trios Los Diamantes, Los Ases and Los Panchos. But his heart was even bigger. My dad, "Cherry" Acosta, was his best friend going back to the days of "Crisol" in the 5th Ward, and he always took time to play on special days for my mom, Dora Acosta. I was honored to have played a him a few times, and my cousin Tony Hinojosa, and I try to emulate him when we play. Paul will live on because he will be in my hands when God lets me fly on my guitar.
