P.C. Joseph's Obituary
Puthiyedath Chacko Joseph, lovingly known as Kunju, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed away peacefully in his own home with his wife and two sons by his bedside.
Kunju was born on February 6, 1947 in East Marady, Muvattapuzha, Kerala, India to the late Ouseph Chacko and Saramma Chacko. At the age of 18, he traveled to Calcutta and Assam for his education and received his training in nursing and worked in Assam for a number of years before receiving the opportunity to come to America.
He arrived in New York in 1976 and worked various jobs to make ends meet. On October 9, 1977, he returned to Kerala, India to marry Ammini Simon and returned to America. The two of them first settled in Cleveland, Ohio where they were blessed with their first son, Jason, on July 16, 1978. Leveraging the connections of old friends from India, the two of them eventually migrated to Pasadena, TX in hopes of pursuing job opportunities, warmer weather, and lifelong friendships. On July 29, 1985, they were blessed with their second son, Jeffery.
Kunju was hired to work at Powell Electrical Company in 1979 alongside many of his friends and would remain there for his entire 37 year career. He and Ammini would go on to found St. Gregorios Orthodox Church in Houston and contributed to the growth and fellowship of the congregation.
Kunju enjoyed always learning new things and always had a book by the bed. He traveled annually to India and always had a desire to see as much of the world as he could. He found the most joy in providing his family the best life they could have.
Kunju was preceded in death by his parents, and younger sister Achamma Paulose. He is survived by his wife Ammini, son Jason and his wife Smitha, son Jeffery and his wife Dincy, his only granddaughter Joanna, and brother P.C. Varghese (Thankachan) and family.
