My deepest condolences to the Pollard family for the loss of an admirable gentleman. Though I did not personally know Mr. Oscar. D. Pollard, reading a little on his life story, says a lot. It is highly likely that my father would have known him since there were at Guymine at the same time. It is very pleasant reading such stories of leaders in Guyana that help paved the way for us young ones. With sincere sympathy to his loved ones, may his soul rest in peace and that he is remembered and treasured in the hearts of all, for the great things he did during his life.

Polly was my work mate at Guybau and treated me with great respect and kindness, despite the age difference. He twice stopped at my place in Barbados while en route to the Turks and Caicos.

Polly was a big man in all ways - a gentle and engaging giant.

I have great regrets in not reconnecting with him after learning that he was in Texas.

RIP Capitan!

My condolence to Mrs Pollard, the family and Oscar's extensive friends network.
I first met and interacted with him, in the early 1980s, during his stint with the Upper Mazaruni Development Authority which was in the Murray Street(now Quamina Street) compound.
We again connected - by way of very incisive and stimulating social and political analysis and discussions - when he took up residence in Meadowbrook Gardens.
After he migrated to Texas in the USA we ,from time to time, connected by way of very expensive/expansive telephone conversations. I contemplated visiting him in Texas but this never materialised.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.

i followed Capt. Oscar Pollard (Polly) footsteps through QC,(QCCC) and into the GDF. At school he was an aspiring athlete in the strong arm events,

Capt. Pollard (Polly), Col, Morgan, Col, Roberts, Brig. Granger, Brig. Gen Joe Singh, Capt. Ishoof, Capt. Narine, and Col. Liverpool and others who were the nucleus of the early young officers corps of the GDF, were all QC Cadets who made the eventual transition, from the hallowed halls, at Camp and Long Road to the Military Head Quarters, Camp Ayangana Vlissengen and Long Road, THEY WERE OUR IDEALS.

Capt. Pollard (Polly , the gentle giant) will always be remembered as a humble, simple human being, an officer and a gentleman.

May He Rest In Eternal Peace.

This is Prince Ellis. My condolences to the Poland's families. May he rest in Eternal Peace. My memories of our late Secretary Mr. Pollard of YMCA in Guyana was camping in Berbice. We nearly ended up with a fight over the girls in Berbice as Mr. Pollard was there to represent us.
