Mrs. Ophia Alice Barnes Stephens' Obituary
Ophia Alice Barnes Stephens, age 99, died Friday, December 29, 2006 in Pearland, Texas.
She was born November 25, 1907 in Burnet County, Texas, the eighth child born to Jefferson D. and Mary Annie Roten Henderson.
She had careers first as a homemaker followed by careers at The Houston Public Library and Houston Chamber of Commerce.
Her first interest was always her family. Her other interests included painting, sewing and church. She was a member of Kirkwood South Christian Church. She was predeceased by her husbands, Roy Barnes 1967 and Morris Stephens 2001.
She is survived by two children; daughter Joyce Baker and husband John of Pearland; son, Roy Allan Barnes and wife Shirley of Houston and six grandchildren Vicky Lee of Pearland, Britt Baker and wife Beverly of Pearland, Brad Baker and wife Janet of Longview, Rhonda Duncan and husband Ken of Plano, Holly Crain and husband Steve of Houston, Nancy Penner and husband Todd of Austin. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. The family thanks the staff at Windsong Village for the loving care they gave.
