Mrs. Ophelia "Faye" Arevalo Caballero's Obituary
Ophelia (Faye) Caballero was born July 7, 1929 and entered into eternal rest peacefully at her home in Manvel, Texas on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Faye was preceded in death by her loving parents Savino and Socorro Arevalo, her loving husband of 55 years Mario Caballero, and her beloved brother Mack Arevalo.
Survived by her son Roger Caballero, daughters Margie Irizarry husband Fred Irizarry, and Elizabeth (Liz) Calvillo husband Dino Calvillo; sister Alicia Driscoll; brothers Sabino Arevalo (Eva), Robert Arevalo (Chris); (6) grandchildren; (10) great grandchildren; (2) great-great grandchildren and many lifelong friends.
Faye was admired and loved by all her family and friends for many reasons but most of all for her caring and unselfish demeanor. She instilled in her son and daughters’ strong values that have served them well through their lives.
One of her greatest attributes was her ability to cook some amazing meals from scratch never using recipes. Her measuring method was a pinch of this and a pinch of that utilizing her left hand for stirring as her secret weapon.
Faye lived for and enjoyed feeding everyone especially during holidays. She always welcomed everyone to her home to enjoy her delicious home cooked meals.
Faye was truly a faithful, loving and caring spouse and mother but she also spent many years of her life taking care of many young people in her community for over 40 years. She owned and operated her own Caballero School Bus service transporting hundreds of children to her various neighborhood schools. Many of whom still remember her today as Mrs. Caballero “the nice bus lady.”
Faye enjoyed cooking, dancing, but one of her greatest passions was going to play bingo. Faye’s family would like to gratefully acknowledge her personal nurse Ericka Rios and her Chaplin Rick Atkinson with Vantage Hospice. Also, her devoted caregivers Maria Pappas and Kaley Riggs for their empathy and support. A special heartfelt thanks to her longtime live in assistant Olga Cossin.
Faye will always remain alive in our hearts and remembered for her loving spirit.
