Rev. Oliver Dewitt Knapper's Obituary
On the evening of December 31, 2015, Reverend Oliver Dewitt (O.D.) Knapper peacefully made his transition in Houston, Texas due to natural causes; in the presence of loved ones. He was 74 years old.
Reverend Knapper was born April 10, 1941 in Forest City, Arkansas to Lewis Tabron and Ve Esther Knapper. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years of marriage, Deborah Knapper; sons, Gregory Osborne, Wesley White, Tarrence Knapper I, and Jay Knapper; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; mother, Ve Esther Lynem; sister Bonnie Lott; and brother Willie Scott; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Reverend Knapper graduated from Langston High School in Hot Springs, Arkansas and later attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas.
In his professional life, O.D. received various recognitions for serving as a Maitre D in distinguished establishments such as Club 2016, The Willowisp Country Club, and the infamous 1400 Club. O. D. was also owner of Knapper Vacuum Shop.
While in Houston, Oliver met and married Deborah Atkins. They enjoyed 24 blissful years of marriage.
The heart of O.D. was his ministry. O.D. was ordained as a minster at First Outreach Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend John Richardson, Senior. He was a faithful servant of the Lord who shared the gospel with everyone whom he met. He ministered healing and the word of God until God called him home.
