Ofelia "Yaya" Resendez's Obituary
Ofelia "Yaya" Resendez, 88, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 in Houston, Texas. The oldest of nine children, she was born on August 5, 1934 to Guadalupe & Natividad Castillo in Ganado, Texas.
Ofelia attended high school in Ganado, where she lived with her grandmother, Eustolia Castillo. She often visited Victoria, Texas where she met the man she fell in love and marry, John Resendez; they married in 1951 and became parents to 4 sons and 3 daughters.
In 1964 the family moved to Houston, Texas where John & Ofelia would start a business. Ofelia went on to become quite the accomplished accountant for the luxury home painting company. She not only did the accounting but managed the business as well, all while being a very devoted, dedicated, loving mother to her family.
Words cannot capture the essence of Ofelia's busy world. She dedicated herself not only to her family but to anyone in need.
Ofelia is survived by her son, Alfred Resendez, and her daughters, Patsy Almaguer, Mary Resendez, and Esther Chavez. Twenty two grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her husband, John Resendez; her sons, Johnny Resendez, Jr., Rudy Resendez, and Ralph Resendez; her sister, Estolia Castillo; her brother, Eleno Castillo; also her parents, Guadalupe & Natividad Castillo.
Ofelia will be dearly missed by all those who were touched by her beautiful soul.
