Mrs. Ofelia Alba Houle's Obituary
Ofelia Alba Navas Houle "Fifi", 89, of Pearland, Texas, died peacefully at home May 13, 2014 after a brief illness. Visitation will be Friday, May 23rd, 9 a.m. at South Park Funeral Home with a memorial service following at 10 a.m. Family and friends will gather at the home of Mary Knight following the service.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her husband Edmund Houle Sr., step-daughter Sharron Mason, son Alan Houle, granddaughter Amber Knight, parents Maria Martinez Navas, and Jose Maria Navas, and numerous siblings. She is survived by sisters Ponchita Irias and Maria Cerna of Honduras. Brother-in-law Wayne Houle Sr. (Barbara), daughter Belinda Lobas (Dean), daughter Melissa Sohlden (Greg), daughter-in-law Karen Houle (Alan), son Edmund Houle Jr., daughter Mary Knight (Tim), daughter Theresa Leske (Andreas), daughter, Cathy Anderson (Mark), daughter Alice Pancamo, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ofelia was born in Juticalpa, Honduras on December 24, 1924 and grew up in the surrounding area. After high school, she attended the Instituto Honduran, graduating in 1941 as a mercantile and public accountant. She moved to New Orleans, La when she was in her 20's where she worked in the clerical capacity. She met and married Edmund in Anaheim, California in 1954, and was married 40 years until his passing in 1995. They lived in Honduras, Canada, California, Michigan, Ohio and finally settled in Texas in 1975. She was a homemaker and cared for her family the majority of her life. Ofelia was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church and Knapp Senior Center. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and volunteered at Christian Helping Hands, working with the "Thursday Crew", until 2010. Ofelia was a beautiful spirit. She loved the Lord, life, her family and her garden. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Special thanks to sister-in-law Barbara Houle, Faith Community Hospice, Trisha Eastham, Roshunda Hampton, Visiting Angels and Griswold Home Care, Shelia Smith, for their tender, loving care during Ms. Fifi's illness.
