Dr. Nizar A. Dholakia Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, and Dedicated Physician
Dr. Nizar A. Dholakia, a cherished husband, father, brother, and compassionate physician, passed away peacefully at his home on November 1, 2024, at the age of 65. His legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to his family and patients will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on September 15, 1959, in Hyderabad, Pakistan, Nizar earned his medical degree from Sind Medical College in 1984. He completed his residency at Brooklyn Hospital and his fellowship at the MD Anderson Health Science Center in 1992. For over 30 years, Dr. Dholakia was a trusted physician, touching countless lives with his expertise, kindness, and commitment to care.
In addition to his dedication to his patients, Nizar was a devoted husband to his wife, Heidi, and a proud father to their three daughters, Sara, Grace, and Kate. He treasured every moment spent with family and friends and was known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious enthusiasm, and zest for life. Nizar loved tending to his garden, feeding the birds, and enjoying time at the lake house. A talented cook, he delighted in sharing meals with loved ones. He was always thankful to God for a beautiful life and remained positive even following his cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Dholakia is survived by his wife, Heidi; his daughters, Sara (Justin), Grace, and Kate; his siblings, Yasmeen Tejani, Mumtaz Sewani (Iqbal), Imitiaz Dholakia (Farzana), and Almas Lakhani (Noorali); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Saleem Dholakia, as well as his father, Khan Mohammad Dholakia, and his mother, Maher Bano Rupani Dholakia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the local chapter of Doctors Without Borders, an organization that Nizar supported throughout his career.
Dr. Nizar A. Dholakia will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to the field of medicine, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and care. He leaves behind a world better for having known him.
