Nina Faye Martin's Obituary
Nina Faye Martin, 96, was born on February 20, 1926 in Haskell, Texas to Jesse and Dorothy Rainey. She passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023 at her home in Spring, Texas. Nina was proceeded in death by her son James “Jimmy” Powell Martin and son-in-law Robert “Bob” Buchanan. She is survived by her daughter Jenna Buchanan, Grandson Robert “Trae” Buchanan III, Granddaughter Pam Gonzalez (Jose), Great Grandchildren James “J.J.” Gonzalez (Brittaney), Andrew “Drew” Gonzalez, Kendall Cunningham (Daniel), Great Great Grandchildren Witten and Landry Gonzalez, Ethan and Emma Cunningham, and numerous other relatives.
Nina moved to Houston as a teenager and remained here for the next 80 plus years. After high school, she entered the work force as bookkeeper and continued to work full time until her retirement. As a life long member of the Church of Christ, Nina loved all church activities including Sunday school, Bible study, and caring for her church family. One could often spot her in church wearing one of her fancy “Sunday” hats. In her spare time, Nina loved to crochet, watch baseball and figure skating, and bake cakes for any occasion, especially for birthdays of loved ones. She made a yummy German chocolate cake, but was most famous for her “Coke” Cake!
Nina was very devoted to her family. She may have been born “Nina Faye” but her biggest blessings called her “Mur”. She loved all of them fiercely. She would proudly hold up her hand to show all five fingers and exclaim “I have 5 generations!”
