Mrs. Nelta Jean Brooks' Obituary
Nelta Jean Brooks was called home to be with her Lord on December 1, 2015 at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her family until her passing. She was born September 20, 1929 to Jonah and Mary Adeline Hurley. She grew up in Seguin, TX. She was the oldest sibling of 9 surviving children. She was married to the love of her life, Aaron B. Brooks for over 64 years. She made a career raising her family and taking care of the home. She resided in Pearland, TX until moving to Sugar Land, TX to be closer to family 15 years ago. She was a member of Shadycrest Baptist Church in Pearland, TX.
She loved flowers of all kind especially her rose bushes. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a strong Christian and loved the Lord with all her heart. She will most be remembered for her love of baking and cooking. She worked hard her entire life, and always put others before herself. Up until the end she thanked everyone for their help, and worried about those she loved so much. She loved her family unconditionally.
She is survived by her son, John R. Brooks and daughter, Loretta S. Patterson; siblings Bill Hurley, Gladys Row, and Sharon Elley; grandchildren-Amy, Aaron and Jon Michael; great grandchildren-Tyler, Andrew, Conner, Sarah, Emma, and Davis; numerous nieces, nephews and loving family members and friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 6-8pm at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, TX 1310 North Main St. Pearland, Texas 77581. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10am with graveside services to follow.
