Nediyakalayil Philipose Abraham's Obituary
N.P. Abraham was affectionately known as John Sir. He was born in Pullad, Kerala to M.V. Philipose and Mariamma Philipose on Nov 6, 1928. He was the 5th child out of 6 children. He was brought up in a Pentecostal home, and he was the last surviving member of his family.
He grew up in Pullad and finished his schooling at St John’s school, Eraviperoor. He did his pre-university at SB college in Changanassery and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from University College of Kerala, Trivandrum. After finishing his teacher's training, he started teaching at SV High school, Pullad and AMM High School in Edayaranmula. After his retirement, he worked as a Secretary for the Pentecostal Educational Society for a number of years and worked alongside Late Pr. T.S. Abraham and Late Pr. M.V. Chacko. During that time, he travelled to many countries to help raise funds to establish the Shalom Public School in Thumpamon, where he served as a teacher and later on, as the Principal of the school. As years went by, he continued to be in communication with many of his former students.
While growing up, he was not a committed Christian until his late 20’s. He heard the testimony of the miraculous healing of a man. With this testimony, along with the fervent prayers of his wife, he decided to live his life for Jesus. He decided to trust in God for his healing without any treatments for the next 50 years.
John Sir got married to Annamma (Ammini) John in 1949. He along with his wife of 63 years lived in Pullad. They were blessed with three children - Roy, Rema and Reji. They visited their children in US, Canada and Kuwait multiple times. They both took care of each other until her passing in Sept 2012.
He was an active member of the TPM church at Kumbanad, Thiruvella for most of his life. He took an initiative to start Sunday School at his home church. During his stay in Dallas, he initially attended New Testament church and for the last three years, he attended IPC Hebron, Dallas. He was especially known for his testimonies, which always consisted of interesting stories. He enjoyed ministering through songs and his testimony. He was proud to be a Pentecostal man who stood zealously for the Lord, and always aimed to set himself apart by living an exemplary life.
In the last years of his life, he was living with his daughter and son-in-law. Until his death, he was eagerly waiting for eternity. His last few words were, “I am so happy that God gave me a long life. Jesus is calling me.” He passed away peacefully with his family around him during the early hours of Wednesday, July 21, 2021, into the presence of His Saviour.
He is survived by his daughter Mercy (Rema) & son-in-law K.I. Mathew (Kunjumon), son Johnson (Reji) & daughter-in-law Feba, grandchildren Jojy, Janey, Liza, Annie (Jessie), Sara (Blessy), Beulah, Evelyn, Abel, and great grandkids Ashley, Emma, Micah, Caleb, Isaiah, Mikayla, Charlotte, Ezra, Levi and Seth. His eldest son Philip Abraham (Roy) and daughter-in-law Elcy Abraham went to be with the Lord in 2020 and 2018 respectively.
We would like to thank everyone for their love, kindness, prayers and words of comfort during this sorrowful time. May our good Lord bless you abundantly
