Nathan Joseph Hampton's Obituary
Nate Hampton went home to heaven, to be with his Lord and Savior after a three month battle with a rare, aggressive bile duct cancer.
Nate was born in Covina, CA to Joel and Sandy Thompson Hampton. His love for fire engines began at the age of 3; so his Dad built him a life size, two story replica of the SSFD (Sesame Street Fire Department Fire House). At the age of 6, he and his family moved to Spring, Texas so that he could grow up with cousins and grandparents nearby. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Klein High School where he played football and hockey. During his senior year he was Captain of the Parliamentary Procedures Team that won the Skills USA 2007 National Championship. Nate earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
At the age of 18, Nate became a volunteer fire fighter. This was the beginning of a life of service for Nate. He graduated from the University of Houston Law Enforcement Academy as a Peace Officer. In addition, he graduated from Texas A&M’s Fire Academy. He was a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Intermediate Fire Fighter. Nate served as a Harris County Sheriff, an EMT and was a Klein Volunteer Fire Fighter for 10 years. During those years he was a driver operator, training coordinator, departmental instructor, special services rescue technician, vehicle extrication technician, and quartermaster. To say that the fire department was Nate’s passion is an understatement. Nate LOVED being a fire fighter.
His hobbies were hunting, soccer, and most of all making people laugh. He had a huge personality and a witty sense of humor that made for constant and continuous laughs. Nate was a generous and loyal friend who would help you any time in any way that he could. He was a determined man who never wanted to quit and who fought to the very end. Nate will be remembered as a person who shared his faith and love for the Lord with others through his actions and service. He was a great son that we were proud of. We thank you, Lord, for sharing him with us for 29 years.
He is survived by his parents, maternal grandparents, 21 aunts and uncles, 34 cousins and many close friends.
A Fire Fighter Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2:30pm at Trinity Klein Lutheran Church, 5201 Spring Cypress Road, Spring, TX 77379. It will also be live streamed online https://www.trinityklein.org/media/
