Mrs. Mozelle Massey Milstead's Obituary
Clemmie Mozelle Massey Milstead, 81 died January 14, 2011. She was born May 6, 1929 to Thelma Ophelia Egger Massey and Thomas Benjamin Massey in San Marcos, Texas. A fifth generation Texan whose pioneer ancestors of Blackwell, Egger, and Massey settled in Hays County area during the days of the Republic of Texas. Upon graduation from San Marcos High School in 1946, she enrolled at the age of 17 in the Lillie Jolly School of Nursing at Memorial Hospital , Houston, Tx.
She graduated and was certified as a Registered Nurse in 1949. Introduced to her future husband by a fellow nurse, she subsequently married Wilton Hewes Milsteadon August 13, 1950 in the First Christian Church of Houston. She worked as a Registered Nurse for Memorial Hospital, Hermann Hospital, Visiting Nurses Association, and Meador Elementary - Pasadena from 1949 until her retirement in 1992. In retirement, she divided her time between their homes in Houston and Wimberley.
Mozelle is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill, her 4 children, son Thomas Hewes Milstead and wife Melissa, daughter Jan Carol Milstead Moss and husband Gary, daughter Laurie Ann Milstead Allen and husband Phillip, and daughter Kay Lee Milstead McKinney and husband Terry, her 8 grandchildren , Heather Moss Burrer and husband Scott, Charles Skyler Moss and fianc?e Nicole Vardeman, Kacie E. Allen Lambeth and husband Kent, Richard Cordell Allen, Brooks Nolan McKinney, Will Brendan McKinney, Blythe Blackwell Milstead, and John Hewes Milstead. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Burnet Massey and wife Harriet along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mozelle was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Benjamin Massey and Thelma Ophelia Massey, brothers Leo Talmadge Massey, Henry James Massey, and Davis Littleton Massey, half brother Elton Massey, half sisters Vida Massey Williamson, Hattie Massey Etheredge, and Loveda Massey Hamilton.
Her family would like to convey their deep appreciation to the staff at Tuscany Village for their support and care that Mozelle received during her illness.
A memorial service is to be held at 7:00 PM , January 20, 2011 at First Christian Church, 1601 Sunset Blvd.,Houston, Tx with visitation beginning at 6:00 PM.
Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM , January 22, 2011 at Chapel in the Hills, 14601 RR 12, Wimberley, Tx. A graveside service will follow at Jacob's Well Cemetery, CR 220, Wimberley, Tx at 2:00 PM , January 22, 2011. Mozelle's eight grandchildren are honored to serve as pallbearers
