Mrs. Mona Dolores Norris' Obituary
Mona Dolores Higginbotham Norris, 84, passed away on October 27, 2018 In Round Rock, Texas. Mona was born on December 23, 1933, in Port Arthur, Texas to Raphael & Margaret Higginbotham.
Mona lived in the South Belt area for close to 50 years. She attended St Luke the Evangelist and was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court # 2292.
She loved decorating cakes. She was a Wilton Cake Decorating Instructor and a longtime member of Frost-A-Tiers. Over the years she won numerous trophies and awards for her decorating. Wedding cakes were her specialty and she loved making a bride’s wishes come true.
Mona never met a bingo parlor she didn’t like. Most Fridays and Saturdays you’d find her at a table with her dabbers and numerous bingo pals. She loved making crafts and sharing them with family and friends.
Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Norris and her parents. Mona is survived by her son, Vincent Norris and wife Carmen, daughters, Margaret Norris-Guerrero; Theresa Theroux and husband Norman; Rebecca Peake and husband Arthur. Mommom is survived by 14 grandchildren , 17 great-grandchildren and her beloved terrier, Mia.
Mona known to her siblings as “Cookie” is also survived by her brother, Eddie Higginbotham, sisters, Kathy McLain; Johanna Sortin and husband Frank; Gertie Arnold and husband Gerald and Rosie Higginbotham.
Acting as Pallbearers: Tony Norris, Ryan Guerrero, Joshua Norris, Covey Lanfear, John Jones and Ernie Arnold. Honorary pallbearers: Bradley Beasley and Alan Green.
Visitation: Thursday, November 1st South Park Funeral Home, 1310 Broadway, Pearland Texas from 5 to 8 pm, with the recital of the rosary at 6 pm.. Catholic Daughters will serve as Honor Guard. A funeral mass celebrating Mona’s life will be held at St Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Road, Houston, Texas Friday, November 2nd at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Pearland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
