Mrs. Mildred E. Rogers' Obituary
On Tuesday, July 3, 2007, Mildred Moore Rogers, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Pearland. Born in Polk County, Texas, in 1911, Mrs. Rogers was a long-time resident of Houston and a member of Park Place Baptist Church.
The third of ten children born to Addie Mae Little and Armour Boyd Moore, Mrs. Rogers moved to Houston when she was 19 where she worked in the Forum Cafeteria in downtown Houston for several years. She met and married Charles Raymond Rogers, to whom she remained devoted for 64 years. A resident of Idylwood subdivision in Southeast Houston for over 65 years, she was passionate about her gardening, especially her beautiful azaleas.
Her family and her gardening were her life and her greatest joys. The love and pride she displayed in her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren were never ending, remembering each and everyone on their birthday. Her wit and humorous anecdotes will be greatly missed, but will continue to live on through those who loved her so much.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, her sisters Clara Moore and Mary Marshall, her brothers Sonny Moore, Elmer Moore, Billy Moore, Alfred Moore, Jessie Moore, and Tom Moore, granddaughter Carol Rogers, and grandson, Matthew Rogers. Mrs. Rogers leaves behind her stepson and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Juanita Rogers, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Steve Stephens, Barbara and Ross Still, and Linda and Jerry Gilmore, the true joys of her life, her six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, her beloved brother, Cotton Moore of Houston, Texas, and many, many nieces and nephews she truly adored.
Our mother often exclaimed how amazed she was that God allowed her such longevity, and we are so thankful to Him that he did. We are truly appreciative that her life was meaningful and had quality until the time he called her home.
