Mike Ming-Chei Huang's Obituary
My father, Mike Huang, migrated from Taiwan to the United States in
1964. He worked in San Francisco, California until he saved enough
money to begin graduate school in Civil/Structural Engineering. After
completing his studies at Oklahoma State University, he moved to
Houston, Texas around 1969. Throughout this time, he had
corresponded with Sheree Chen in Taiwan through the
encouragement of their parents. She then moved to the United
States to marry my father. Even though they were not yet Christians
at the time, my mother had a strong desire to be married in a
Christian church. They found a pastor at a Grace Chapel Church
who was willing to marry them. Through this beginning, they were
saved, began pursuing a Christian life together, and very much
enjoyed the ministry of Watchman Nee.
Around 1975, while carrying one of Watchman Nee’s books, my
mother was approached by some dear saints in a grocery store who
noticed her book and invited my parents to the church in Houston
and their book room. Through the Lord’s sovereign arrangement,
they found their home in the church and the ministry of Witness Lee.
From that time onward, they remained faithful to the ministry. They
enjoyed, lived, and served in the church in Houston until my mother’s
untimely passing in August 2019. From that time, Mike Huang moved
to Irving to stay close to his son, Alfred, and his family. During this
time, he lived a very peaceful life blending with the church in Irving
as much as he could despite the COVID pandemic.
During his remaining years, although he was home bound due to his
physical limitations, he continued giving financially to the church in a
faithful way. His heart continued to be for the Lord and the ministry.
He remains a pattern to so many dear brothers and sisters, and
especially to his only son, Alfred, daughter-in-law, Helen, and
grandson, Ezra.
