Mr. Michael Davidson Lucchese Sr.'s Obituary
Michael Davidson Lucchese, Sr., 74, of Pearland, Texas, entered into eternal life with Christ on August 30, 2012. Mike grew up in San Antonio and served in the San Antonio Police Department before moving to Houston. He thrived in the acoustical contracting and construction material sales arena for over 40 years as an award-winning salesman and sales manager. He participated actively in a variety of professional associations including the AGC, ABC, CISCA, DISCA and AWCI. Across the nation, construction industry stories and legends abound about "Big Mike" Lucchese. Associates will remember Mike not only because of his large stature, but also because of the big impression he made on people. You could count on his big smile in person or on the phone. Mike developed strong relationships with many architects, contractors, sub-contractors, coworkers, clients, drivers picking up supplies, and suppliers. He considered each and every one of these people part of his workday family and looked forward to interacting with them. He never quit enjoying his work associates. Davidson family members recall "Little Dave" memories with fondness. (He was actually considered small in comparison to some of his Davidson relatives.) His sister, Margaret, recounts that upon several instances of introducing him as her "little brother" she was met with the question, "If this is your little brother, do you have an even bigger brother?" His cousin, Dave, recalls working with him in the family business as young men unloading rail cars of 100 pound sacks of dry goods. Dave would struggle with one; Mike would carry two or three at a time. They spent many memorable summers in Poteet, TX hunting, fishing and working the farm and just having fun. Somewhere along the journey, he became "Poppy" to friends and family.
Influencing and encouraging hundreds of young people who are friends of his children was a serious responsibility and an overwhelming joy to Mike. He liked to mentor them in good times and help them see their way back to a better path when times were difficult. He leaves behind those who will miss him dearly: *Sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Tom Campbell and their family *Daughter Sarina *Sons Mike Jr., Mark and wife Vicky, John Joseph, David and fiance Stephanie Cox *Grandchildren Ryan, Brandon, Alyssa and husband Eduardo Roman, Anne Marie, and Ian, along with Stephanie's daughters Natalie and Kaylie Sells *Great-grandchildren David, Alayna, and Evan Roman *Niece, Bonnie Sheeren, husband John and great nieces Stephanie Marrone and Jennifer Sheeren, nephew Tom Campbell, Jr., wife Roni and great nephews Caleb and Collin Campbell and great niece Ashley Campbell *Cousins David Conrad Davidson, Joe Davidson, Jr., Dewitt Davidson, Jim Ross Davidson, Jim Davidson, William Robert Davidson, Martha Byrom, Jerry Sammons, and their families *Loving former wife Colleen He is preceded in death by his son Stephen Anthony "Tony" and first wife Martha. Mike is a former member of Pearland Knights of Columbus Council 8960 and attended Mary Queen Catholic Church and St. Helen's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please spend extra time with someone you care about or someone who needs a friend; Mike would like that. If you would like, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
