Mr. Michael Travis Evans' Obituary
Michael Travis Evans
Sea Captain Michael Travis Evans, age 57, passed away in Houston, Texas on December 24, 2012 after a long and courageous fight against amyloidosis and while convalescing from transplant surgery. Captain Evans lived in Alvin, Texas with his wife Donna Evans (Trainor) and his children Leah Marie and Matthew Travis. He last worked for Cal Dive International, Inc. as the master of one of the company's saturation diving support vessels. He was a graduate of the Texas Maritime Academy, Texas A&M, Galveston. His family was always at the center of his life. Captain Evans was there to teach, celebrate, and support his family in their animal, swimming, drill team, basketball, fishing, and boating activities. His home was the gathering place of his children's friends. He loved anything related to the sea-sailing, spending time at the beach, and scuba diving. His love for the sea was a natural consequence of his childhood, with a sea captain and ship pilot for a father (Captain Roy Evans, deceased) and living in the Panama Canal Zone where his life was tied so closely to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and Gatun Lake. In addition to his wife and two children, Captain Evans is survived by his mother, Betty Evans (Newman) of Slidell, LA; two brothers, David, of Southlake, Texas and Andrew of Orlando, FL; and a sister, Cheryl Sibson of Allen, Texas. Captain Evans will be deeply missed not only by his family, but also by his many friends who were lucky enough to know him over the course of his life. A memorial service will be held at South Park Funeral Pearland, TX on Saturday December 29th at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a fund (Leah and Matthew Evans) to benefit his Children. Contributions can be sent or given to David Evans 2711 York Ct., Southlake TX 76092.
