Mr. Merland Pernetter's Obituary
Merland Pernetter was born in Wharton, Texas on July 24, 1957 to the late Sydney and Myrtle Pernetter. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1975 and served our country in the US army for the next four years.
After his enlistment in the military, Merland studied radio and television broadcasting at the Columbia School of Broadcasting and moved to Austin, Texas to use his newly acquired skills to DJ for businesses and many private organizations and individuals. In addition to sharing his eclectic love of music with many through his varied DJ’ing experiences, Merland was employed by several businesses, Whole Foods Market, Pioneer Standard Electronics, the City of Bay City and Aerotech.
Although Merland thoroughly loved a wide variety of music, mostly reggae, his true passion was photography. As a photographer, he created and managed Natural Mystic Photography Productions and captured unforgettable images of family and friends at weddings, parties, graduations and a variety of other celebrations. Additionally, Merland was responsible for taking pictures for the city of Bay City and sharing them with the community in the newspaper and on the local website. He will be fondly remembered by many for his work with the Texas Folk Life Fest, the Renaissance Festival, and Sherwood Forest Faire.
Merland is survived by his sisters Frances Burley (Ecomet) and Mabel Pernetter; his nephews Roderick (LaShonda), Jarod, and Justin (Tiffany); his niece Ebony Lanier; his aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and Ren Fest and Sherwood Forest Faire friends.
