Melvin Bradley Stratton's Obituary
Bradley Stratton was called peacefully to God on August 2, his 78th birthday. Beloved husband for 54 years to Carolyn (nee Hoover). Loving father to Jennifer (Craig) of Cypress and Matthew who preceded him in death. Loving grandfather to Jacob. Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edna Stratton.
Bradley was born on August 2,1946 in Houston. He graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1964. As Bradley started his freshman year at Stephen F Austin University, he felt called to serve his country and left to join the United States Navy. He served proudly from 1966-1970. After leaving the military, he worked for Southwestern Bell for 30 years.
On Easter Sunday in 1968, Bradley met his wife Carolyn at Trinity Presbyterian Church and they were married there on July 25, 1970. In 1974, they welcomed their daughter Jennifer and in 1977, their son Matthew. In 2008, his grandson Jacob was born.
Bradley was known for his love of family and friends. His sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him and his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for Texas History was admired by all. He was also an avid gun collector and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.
He will be deeply missed by his family and his large group of friends, especially those at First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena.
