Melinda Arnold's Obituary
Melinda Joyce Nash Arnold, born on December 9, 1943 in Freeport, TX, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on August 21, 2017 in Hopkinton, MA. Her parents were Elizabeth Doris Seidler Nash and James Albert Nash of Pasadena, TX, where Melinda attended Pasadena High School, graduating in 1962. While a senior, she was President of the National Jimmy Clanton Fan Club. In 1963, she married Jerald Hamman Arnold, moving to Houston, TX. She worked for Tennessee Oil & Gas, later transitioning to real estate sales in the 1970s. In 1980, Melinda obtained her real estate broker’s license from the University of Houston. During the 1980s, Melinda owned and operated a women’s clothing boutique at the Nassau Bay Hilton at Clear Lake and later at the Gardens of Bammel Lane in Houston. In 1987, she joined her husband and his business partner at their commercial real estate company. In the 1990s, Melinda divorced and returned to retail sales at Isabell Gerhart and at Neiman Marcus. In the late 1990s, she went back to real estate, owning and operating a corporate housing company, serving the families of patients in the Texas Medical Center. Melinda was actively involved in her community, volunteering with Houston Garden Club, Pin Oak Charity Horse Show, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Youth For Understanding amongst other organizations. Melinda cared deeply about the people and animals in her life. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Diane Nash Malone and husband Kent of Houston, TX; her daughter, Jennifer Annette Arnold of Los Angeles, CA; and son, Jerald Christopher Arnold and wife Lori, and two grandchildren, Cameron and Lucas, of Hopkinton, MA. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas 77504, in the sanctuary on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 am, and will be officiated by Dr. Will Reed.
